The 6 Pole Universal Shelter System (USS) is a kit consisting of five standard poles and 1 extension pole with a carrying bag. The extension pole connects to a
standard pole to form a center or ridge pole. Contained inside each standard pole are the RockBuster ground stakes, rope lines, EZ Adjust rope adjusters, and the Long Grabbit linear grappler. As a recommended guideline, a single kit provides enough poles to suspend a tarp of up to 18 sq. m (200 sq. feet). The basic premise is four standard poles are used at each corner of a tarp and the fifth standard pole and the extension pole are combined to form the center or ridge pole.
Additional kits may be combined to construct a larger cover area. Since the poles can attach anywhere to any material countless variations can be constructed. This makes the USS adaptable to nearly any environment. Unlike other shelter systems of similar capacity the USS is much lighter because it is frameless. It is also much more compact for easy transport. Yet once suspended the USS is super strong against wind, rain, and other harsh weather. It provides the protection ordinarily reserved for "full frame" shelter systems weighing hundreds and hundreds of pounds. These features make the USS ideal for living and working in all extended-stay field activities such as: disaster relief, military operations, forest fire, expedition camps, field geology, archeology digs, paleontology digs, law enforcement, and even simple family outings and camp trips.
